Functions, Role and Structure

The Central Library that has a Chequered history of construction since 1989 was occupied in August 1995. It has floor area of 49m and can accommodate over 200readers The Library has provision for separate Serial and Reference rooms capable of accommodating 24 and 50 readers respectively.

Services rendered include:

  1. Literature searching and reference
  2. User instruction
  3. Selection Dissemination
  4. Indexing of newspapers and journals articles.
  5. Lending services.
  6. Photocopying

These service are accomplished through the organization  of the Library under 3 major  division.

  • Technical Services Division:  This division is charged with collection development, cataloguing and  processing of books and other  Library materials. Preparation of list additions.
  •  Readers Services Division:  This division is charged with the responsibility of registration of readers, users education and lending services.
  • Research and Bibliographic Service Division:  This division is charged with information in gazettes and government publication  these and production of indexes to Newspapers and Magazines.
  • Photocopying  Services
  • This services are available to staff and student at cost We however  warn of copyright implications.

Opening hours are as follows

During Semester: Monday-Friday:- 7.30am -900p.m.

 During Vacation:    Monday -Friday:- 7.30a.m.-3.30pm

  As at now library has a book stock of 39.836 volumes and subscribe to over 300 journals.
