Objectives, (ND) Statistics

The programme is designed to produce Assistant Statisticians who will be able:

  1. To assist in the collection and analysis of statistical data for the use of government organization, industry and institutions.
  2. To apply statistical data to solve human problem under supervision.

Objectives, (ND) Computer Science

The broad objective of the programme is to produce Computer operators and junior programmers for the booming Computer industry both in Government, Business, Industries and Research. A grandaunt should be able to operate a computer unit to perform various tasks including data processing/analysis. Word processing image processing and data communications. He/she should be able to fix simple computer machine problems and to construct simple programs to process routine jobs. He/she should be able to supervise computer data entry or data entry operator.

Pre-ND Programme in Statistics

This is a one year programme designed to prepare candidates who  do not possess the minimum entry qualification requirement  for admission into the ND programme.

Entry Requirements

Candidates for admission into the Pre-ND Programme must obtain at least four credits in the SSCE/Ordinary level G.C.E/NECO or any other accredited examination body recognized by the Polytechnic. Two of the credits must be from Mathematics,  Economics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.Geography, Government, Additional Mathematics, English Language.

Pre-ND Programme in Computer Science

This is a one year programme designed to prepare candidates who  do not possess the minimum entry qualification requirement  for admission into the ND programme.

Candidates for admission into the Pre-ND Programme must obtain at least four credits in the SSCE/Ordinary level G.C.E/NECO or any other accredited examination body recognized by the Polytechnic. Two of the credits must be from Mathematics,  Economics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Geography, Government, Additional Mathematics, Government, History and Food Technology with at least a pass in English Language.

How to apply

National Diploma (ND) Programme in Statistics

This is a two year course, comprising of four semester including a compulsory supervised industrial attachment of at least four months during the long vacation at the end of the first year of study.

Entry Requirements

  1. The minimum entry requirement into the National Diploma program in Statistics is four credits in the SSSC or GCE (O/L) or equivalents at a sitting for five Credits at not more than two sittings. The credit must be in Mathematics and in any three of the following: Statistics, Geography, Government, Additional Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Agric. Science and Economics with at least a pass in English Language. Such candidate must pass through JAMB.
  2. Candidates who successfully complete the Pre-ND programme may also be admitted into programme.

National Diploma (ND) Programme in Computer

This is a two year course, comprising of four semester including a compulsory supervised industrial attachment of at least four months during the long vacation at the end of the first year of study.

  1. Candidates who successfully complete the Pre-ND programme may also be admitted into programme.
  2. Candidate who successfully completed the basic certificate in computer Science of Auchi Polytechnic with at least Lower Credit pass, plus the minimum JAMB entry requirements may also be considered.

Higher National Diploma (HND) in Statistics

Entry Requirements

In addition to all the requirements for admission into the ND programme, candidate for admission into the HND programme must possess a minimum of Lower Credit pass in the National Diploma Examination in Statistics  from Auchi Polytechnic or any other recognized institution whose programmes are accredited by NBTE and satisfactory completion of one year industrial work experience.

In exceptional cases, ND diplomats with a Pass in the ND examination with at least two years cognate working experience  may be considered for admission into the HND programme.

Higher National Diploma (HND), Computer Science.

Entry Requirements

National Diploma from Auchi Polytechnic or similar Institutions in Nigeria, in Computer Science. the candidate should also meet the minimum requirements for National Diploma in Auchi Polytechnic and must have minimum of lower credit in National Diploma with at least one year post diploma relevant working experience.

candidates with pass in the ND examination with at least two years cognate working experience may be considered for admission into the HND programme.
