Academic Programmes:

National Diploma (ND) in Science Laboratory Technology

General objectives

The goal of this programme (Science Laboratory Technology) is to develop technician who will be able to carry out supervised and un-supervised laboratory analysis and practical work.

(i)   Produce a technician for technologist who will be able to assist in carrying out chemical analysis and laboratory experiments in educational institutions' laboratories food. Industries and research laboratories.

(ii)   Produce a technician or technologist who can assist in the organization and management of science Laboratories, marketing and distribution of Science equipment and consumables.

(iii)   Produce a technician or technologist that can undergo the HND or B. Sc. programme in Electrical/Electronics. Glass Blowing: Biochemistry/Chemistry, Microbiology/Botany, Geology etc.
Pre-ND Programme

The grandaunt should be able to be self employed or gain employment in the following industries. Institutions or departments: Oil industry, Agriculture, Food and Beverages, Breweries/Distilleries/Research Institutions. Science based Institution, Armed forces, Building, Mining, etc.

Entry Requirements

For Pre-ND in Science Laboratory Technology a candidate must have two credit in Senior School Certification or General Certificate of Education (GCE) O/L with a pass in English Language. The two credit must be in any of the following: Physics or Chemistry and Biology is compulsory. 

How to apply

 National Diploma (ND) Programme in Science Laboratory Technology

This is a two year course, comprising of four semester including a compulsory supervised industrial attachment of at least 4 months during the long vacation period at the end of the first year of study. 

Entry Requirements: Minimum  entry requirement for this programme five-credit level passes in Senior Secondary Certificate of Examination or general Certificate of Education (GCE) O/L in not more than two sittings. The subject must include the following: Mathematics, and any two from Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English Language. (ii) Candidates who have successfully completed the Pre-ND (Science Laboratory Technology) course may be admitted into the programme directly.
