Academic Programmes

The department offers academic programme leading to the award of Higher National Diploma (HND) in two specialized options, which are:

- HND Sculpture.

- HND Ceramics option.

General Objectives

The General of the programme is based on the philosophy of Hand and Brain for development with the desirable goal of educating highly skilled diplomats who are well versed in the Aesthetics, Conceptual and technical rudiments of three dimensional designs to meet with social and industrial needs of the society.

Specifically, students would be able to:

  1. Gain an indept knowledge with tangible proofs of a mastery of the skills and principle of composing and building a permanent sculpture in both plastic and non-plastic media
  2. Design and execute relatively, various three dimensional forms in any Sculpture medium
  3. Understand the characteristic and uses of Sculpture medium tools and equipment
  4. Set up, (when necessary) an industrial commercial or privates sculpture studio/Galleries
  5. Select, sue and medium the various tool, equipment and media.

Course Structure

Sculpture refers specifically to the organization of forms and space, using varieties of materials, processes and tools students admitted into the programme are encouraged to a avail themselves with the opportunities available in the department so that on completion of the course they would be able to apply learning to productivity.

The emphasis of the HND course in both Ceramics and Sculpture is on studio practices necessary for sculpture or the Ceramic industries with relevant theoretical orientation in the various fields of sculpture or ceramics.

Higher National Diploma (HND) in Sculpture option

Students should be able to:

Entry Requirements

Entry requirement into the programme is opened to (upon applications using the prescribed Polytechnic admission forms) holders of the National Diploma (Art and Design) or its equivalent in related fields such as Diploma in Fine and Applied Art, with a minimum score of C.P.A. 2.00.

Candidate with lesser C.P.A. pass score with no less with two-year ND industrial experiences in relevant areas are also qualified to apply for admission.

How to apply

Higher National Diploma (HND) in Ceramics options

The students should be able to:

  1. Develop appropriate skills in Ceramic to design and execute various form of Ceramics projects for both private and industrial use.
  2. Understand the characteristics of Ceramics medium and how to use them effectively.
  3. Set up and manage commercial or private Ceramics production Industries.

Entry Requirements
