General Objectives

The department offers a two-year academic programme geared toward the award of the higher national Diploma (HND) with specialization in any of the two distinct areas of

Graphics Design and
Textiles Design. The department equally offers a two-years programme
leading to the award of the National Diploma in Fashion Clothing Technology.

The goal of this programme is to develop and awaken the perceptual and conceptual abilities in the graduates of these programmes as well as inculcate the relevant and enduring skills necessary to equip them with the capabilities of adapting into the industrial and public sector of society. The programme is equally channeled towards the development of the intellectual aesthetic, moral and civic values of the diplomats to the end that can function effectively at the different levels of the organized industrial sector as well as imbibe the virtues of good citizenship.

National Diploma (ND)

Entry Requirements

Candidate for admission into the fashion and clothing technology programme must possess the West African School Certificate, GCE O/L or NECO or its equivalent with credit passes in at least four (4 subjects at ONE sitting or five (5) credits passes at TWO sittings in any of the following subjects: Fine Art, Clothing and textiles, Home Economics, Economics, Biology/Health Science, Technical Drawing, Government, English literature, B.K, Geography, Commerce and at least a pass in English Language. OR Candidates who have passed the prescribed examination the Pre-ND level of the school of art and design.

Higher National Diploma (HND)

Entry Requirements

The HND programme in Graphics and Textile design are open to holders of the National Diploma in Art and Design with a CGPA of not less than 2.50. This is subject to a minimum of one year post qualification industrial work experience candidates with CGPA of less than 2.50 age expected undergo a two industrial experience before returning for the higher national Diploma programme. This in addition to the minimum school certificate/O/L requirement of the School of Art and Design.
