General Objectives, (ND)

At the end of the programme, the diplomats should be able to exhibit adequate knowledge, skills and technical know-how in the use, development and management of land on the following. Inspect, survey value and reports on land and building for development and management purposes. Examine, produce and interpret building plans. Undertake the preparation, keeping and updating of land records.

General Objectives, (HND)

At the end of the programme, the Diploma should be able to:

  1. Take measurement of land and building.
  2. Carry out market surveys and other enquiries on properties.
  3. Collect, compile and compute data for valuation purposes.
  4. Inspect state lands and make regular reports.
  5. Manage properties for landlord in relation to selection of tenants, service and notice to quit premises, renewal of leases and maintenance of building etc.
  6. Examine building plans.
  7. Assist in the implementation of policies regarding allocation and administration of land resources.
  8. Assist in the processing of application of right of occupancy and subsequent transaction.
  9. Assist in the registration of title documents i.e. C of O, deed of mortgages, deed of assignment and subleases.
  10. Assist with the government public notices to compulsorily acquire rights of occupancy.
  11. Carry out routine control, supervision and occupant of governmental land, and collection of rent and license fees.
  12. Assist in keeping Estate Accounts for clients.
National Diploma (ND) Programme in Estate Management

This is a two year course, comprising of four semester including a compulsory supervised industrial attachment sandwiched between the sessions. The course is aimed at producing sub- professionals or technicians who will be capable of handling and performing to an acceptable standard, certain range of Estate Development and Management functions and solving problems in their various fields of employment with some supervision.

Entry Requirements

In addition to General GME entry requirements, candidates for admission into the ND Programme must obtain a minimum of four credits in the SSCE/Ordinary level G.C.E/ NECO which will include Mathematics, English Language Economics and  any of the basic science subject.

Higher National Diploma (HND) in Estate Management

Land use studies are concerned with the complex inter woven pattern of the relationship between man and land. This is a four-semester course aimed at providing adequate understanding and skills for management of the whole physical environment, including the economic, the financial, the construction, legal, social and political aspects as well as examining the techniques both quantitative and qualitative tools used in practice of Estate Management.

Entry Requirements

In addition to all the requirements for admission into the ND programme, candidate for admission into the HND programme must possess a minimum of Lower Credit pass in the National Diploma Examination in Estate Management  from Auchi Polytechnic or any other recognized institution whose programmes are accredited by NBTE and satisfactory completion of one year industrial work experience.

In exceptional cases, ND diplomats with a Pass in the ND examination with at least two years cognate working experience in Estate Management may be considered for admission into the HND programme.
